This large scale, core Federal Government Department based in central Canberra is currently looking for their newest IT Project Officer to work as part of their Digital Projects Branch PMO!

Your new role

Reporting to the Assistant Director, you'll be:

• Supporting the Product Manager and Assistant Director and working with the PMO team by actively contributing to program and project delivery, including overseeing key outcomes day to day, and managing and delivering program management artefacts and processes.
  
  
• Undertaking high-quality and timely preparation of papers and reports to Senior Executives, Boards & Committees, and Ministerial briefs (where required) on the status, risks & issues, schedule, and progress of program benefits realisation.
  
  
• Supporting the strategic direction of program and project activities and next steps, including providing high-quality written and verbal advice to the Product Manager, Senior Executive, and other key internal and external stakeholders as required.
  
  
• Participating in team/work stream sprints, risk assessments, scrum meetings, Program Increment planning workshops internally and with key stakeholders.
  
  
• Actively collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to support program and project outcomes and activities.

What you'll need to succeed

1. Previous experience in project management or advisory roles, preferably within a government or similar environment.

2. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to appropriately tailor the message to the appropriate audience to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in fast paced environments, adapting to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks concurrently, under limited supervision.

4. Demonstrated strategic, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with proven organisational skills and high attention to detail.

5. Experience in working with government policies and procedures, knowledge of risk management, IT project benefits, and government record keeping requirements.

6. Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps services, MS Power BI, QLIK desirable but not essential.
