Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Architect to design and lead the cloud infrastructure for a Customer Data Platform (CDP). This role is critical in shaping a scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS architecture that supports large-scale data ingestion, processing, and analytics.

You will work closely with data engineers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders to define and deliver a robust AWS-based data platform aligned with business and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect the end-to-end AWS infrastructure for the Customer Data Platform (CDP)
• Define high-level and detailed architecture covering:
• Networking: VPCs, subnets, routing, security boundaries
• Compute: EC2, Lambda, EMR
• Storage: S3, EBS, RDS, Redshift
• Data Services: Glue, EMR, Redshift
• Ensure the architecture meets scalability, availability, security, and cost optimisation goals
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Oversee AWS service implementation supporting data ingestion, transformation, and storage
• Define and enforce AWS security best practices, including IAM, security groups, encryption, and compliance controls
• Monitor and continuously optimise infrastructure performance, resilience, and cost
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, standards, and deployment procedures
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, protection regulations, and industry standards

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience as an AWS Architect designing production-grade cloud platforms
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, including:
• EC2, S3, RDS, EMR, Redshift, Glue, Lambda
• Solid understanding of data engineering and data warehousing concepts
• Proven experience designing scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure architectures
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
• Strong understanding of AWS security, IAM, networking, and governance
• Experience working in data-heavy or analytics-driven platforms (CDP, DWH, Data Lake, Analytics)

Nice to Have

• Experience with cost optimisation strategies (FinOps)
• Exposure to compliance-heavy environments (financial services, regulated industries)
• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional)
