About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer with expertise in power production, distribution and power system protection.
You will play a key role in engineering and managing project deliveries of varying size and complexity. This includes close coordination with shipyards, shipowners, class societies, ABB factories, and subcontractors. You will also collaborate with ABB service and commissioning engineers—and may even take part in commissioning activities yourself, if desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering activities within the power scope of marine projects
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and classification societies
- Follow up on project deliveries and ensure technical quality and compliance
- Provide technical leadership and support during commissioning phases
- Travel occasionally to customer sites, suppliers, and shipyards
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should have at least five years of experience in designing electrical power systems. While a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering is preferred, we also welcome applications from experienced ship electricians with relevant commissioning and engineering backgrounds.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in switchboard operations, programming of protection relays, and a solid understanding of power system dynamics and power generation. Experience with different power system studies is also relevant.
You should be able to effectively combine practical skills with theoretical knowledge. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Given that ABB Marine & Ports is a multicultural workplace with colleagues and clients from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, cultural awareness and mutual respect are fundamental requirements.
Why join us?
