Chief Technology Officer – Data Centers (Norway)
A growing Data Center owner and operator is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technical and design strategy across its expanding portfolio in Norway and the Nordics. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping, scaling, and delivering future Data Center developments from early design through to operational readiness.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CTO will play a critical role in ensuring projects progress efficiently through regulatory processes while maintaining best-in-class technical, sustainability, and delivery standards.
Role Overview
- Lead and oversee all technical design and engineering activities across current and future data centre developments.
- Define and drive the long-term technical strategy to support portfolio growth and scalability.
- Manage and guide projects through regulatory, planning, and permitting processes, ensuring alignment from concept design through to construction and delivery.
- Act as the technical authority across the full data centre lifecycle, bridging design, construction, and operations.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure smooth project progression.
- Support the CEO and leadership team with technical input on investment decisions, risk management, and delivery strategy.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, design principles, and governance frameworks across the portfolio.
Experience & Profile
- 5–10 years’ experience within the Data Center sector, ideally within an owner, operator, or developer environment.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and permitting processes in Norway, across the full delivery lifecycle (not operations-only).
- MEP background highly desirable, with strong technical depth in critical infrastructure systems.
- Experience overseeing multi-disciplinary design teams and external consultants.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, build-as-you-go environment typical of scaling data centre platforms.
- Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical leadership.
Personal Attributes
- Driven, resilient, and pragmatic in approach.
- Strong alignment with the company’s growth vision and long-term strategy.
- Team-oriented leader who collaborates effectively across functions.
- Confident decision-maker with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
