Data Scientist
Data Scientist – Machine Learning & Optimization
Permanent | Full-time | Germany / Hybrid
About the Role
We are supporting an organisation working on complex, data-driven decision-making challenges in a highly dynamic and mission-critical environment.
The role focuses on designing and deploying advanced machine learning, statistical, and optimization models that directly support strategic and operational decisions, particularly in large-scale, real-world systems.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role with real operational impact, combining deep analytical work with production deployment and stakeholder interaction.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and architect machine learning, statistical, and optimization models to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Take end-to-end ownership of complex, data-driven use cases — from ideation and model design through implementation and productive deployment
- Develop and apply advanced decision and optimization approaches, including:
- Linear and integer optimization
- Heuristic methods
- Reinforcement learning
- Translate analytical results into clear, data-driven recommendations and act as a trusted sparring partner for senior stakeholders
- Deploy models into production and contribute actively to MLOps, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines
- Help evolve the AI and analytics platform, ensuring scalability and reliability
- Establish best practices for data, models, and analytics workflows
- Contribute to building and sustaining a data-driven culture across the organisation
Your Profile
- Several years of professional experience (ideally 6+ years) in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or Mathematical Optimization applied to complex business problems
- Strong track record of innovation, ideally demonstrated through publications, research contributions, or comparable achievements
- Excellent Python skills and hands-on experience with common data science and ML libraries
- Deep expertise in time-series forecasting and/or mathematical optimization methods
- Experience deploying analytics or ML solutions into production environments, preferably cloud-based (e.g. Azure)
- Familiarity with MLOps practices, monitoring, and CI/CD workflows
- Strong analytical thinking combined with a clear focus on implementation and business impact
- Ability to take ownership, communicate complex topics clearly, and influence through expertise rather than formal authority
- High enthusiasm for innovation, technology, and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
What’s Offered
- Work on high-impact, real-world problems with direct operational relevance
- End-to-end responsibility rather than isolated modelling tasks
- Modern analytics and AI environment with room to shape best practices
- Strong emphasis on quality, sustainability, and long-term impact
- Collaborative, knowledge-driven culture with high professional standards
- Competitive compensation and flexible working model
