Engineering Manager - Secrets Management - Kubernetes/HashiCorp Vault/GCP... $220-240k + super + bonus
We're looking for a technical engineering manager to lead a mature secrets management team running HashiCorp Vault and identity services across Google Cloud platform. You'll manage a strong team of 6 engineers (including 3 seniors) who have moved past the heavy build phase and are now focused on driving adoption and operational excellence across the business.
This is a 60/40 technical-to-people split where your expertise in Kubernetes or secrets management really matters. You'll own platform health, lead incident response, and stay hands-on with architectural decisions while coaching a capable team.
What You Bring
Leadership & People Management
- Proven capability in leading engineering teams of 5-10 people with varying levels of seniority
- History of fostering high-performance, collaborative team environments
- Experience creating personalised career development pathways and delivering impactful performance evaluations
- Skilled in managing distributed teams across different geographic locations and work arrangements
- Success in attracting, integrating, and retaining exceptional engineering professionals in challenging talent markets
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
Platform & Service Delivery
- Background in Platform Management, enabling application teams to leverage cloud services effectively
- Track record of upholding platform quality standards and meeting strategic objectives
- Demonstrated capability to balance new feature development against technical debt management and system reliability
- Experience in capacity forecasting and team resource planning
- Ability to define and monitor key engineering performance indicators (such as DORA metrics, SLIs/SLOs)
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in two or more major programming languages (e.g., Golang, C/C++, Java, Rust, or comparable languages); Golang experience particularly valued
- Hands-on experience with GitOps methodologies (ArgoCD preferred) and declarative infrastructure as code tools (Kustomize, Helm, CloudFormation, Terraform)
- Practical experience supporting live production applications
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes or comparable large-scale container orchestration platforms in production settings
- 5+ years working with hyperscale cloud platforms in enterprise contexts, with GCP experience preferred
- Familiarity with Secrets Management solutions or Service-to-Service Identity Management frameworks considered a strong advantage
If you've run applications on Kubernetes with a focus on reliability and observability, or have deep secrets management experience in enterprise environments, you'll be effective from day one. Apply now!
