Job Details
Position Title - Network Engineer
Employment Type - 3 months Contract (extendable)
Work Location - Dubai, UAE.
Key Responsibilities:
•Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance, optimize energy and lifecycle costs, and lead vendors and internal teams to achieve uptime, SLA, and audit targets for IT Operations team.
•Provide Level 2 support for hosting enterprise systems, Routing, Switching, and Wi-Fi infrastructure.
•Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and network incidents related to LAN, WAN, and WLAN within defined SLAs.
•Configure, maintain, and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking (VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP/VRRP).
•Support Wi-Fi networks, including AP provisioning, controller configuration, RF optimization, and wireless troubleshooting.
•Perform network changes, upgrades, and patching activities with proper documentation and rollback planning.
•Participate in IOS/firmware upgrades, device replacements, and hardware RMA coordination.
•Monitor network performance using NMS tools and proactively identify potential issues.
•Work closely with L3 engineers, vendors, and ISPs for complex problem resolution and escalations.
•Support network projects, site rollouts, migrations, and expansions.
•Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
•Participate in after-hours support, maintenance windows, and on-call rotations as required.
•Close audit actions on time; keep risk registers, permits-to-work, and asset documentation current.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
•Strong hands-on experience with Hardware installation, Routing & Switching in enterprise environments.
Solid understanding of:
•Data Centre System Hosting, Data Centre and IT Room Standards, Vendor co-ordination.
•TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, DNS
•VLANs, Trunking, STP/RSTP/MST
•OSPF, BGP, EIGRP
•NAT, ACLs, QoS
•Experience with Wi-Fi technologies: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax
•Wireless controllers and access points
•RF fundamentals, site surveys, and troubleshooting interference
