About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Backend Engineer to join our Supply Chain Security group. This team is focused on reimagining software development and operational security through a comprehensive, developer-first approach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building and managing large-scale infrastructure services, with a keen understanding of security and policy enforcement to protect modern software supply chains. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to develop, secure, and enhance Docker’s registry and SaaS offerings. Your work will directly influence how developers globally deliver containers more securely and efficiently, shaping the future of container security and supply chain integrity.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in building, deploying, and monitoring microservices within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages, primarily Go.
- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases in high-volume environments.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices including code review, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and testing.
- Experience working autonomously across distributed and remote teams.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure automation and security frameworks is a plus (e.g., infrastructure security, policy enforcement, compliance frameworks like SLSA, SOC 2, FedRAMP).
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and monitor microservices and serverless components in AWS to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Build and enhance automation tooling, including GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and Grafana dashboards, to streamline development and operational workflows.
- Address complex engineering challenges related to delivering container images and metadata efficiently and securely at scale.
- Design and implement security and compliance policies across the entire delivery pipeline to enforce best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Take collective ownership of the security posture and developer experience related to secure container images, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features that reinforce supply chain security and operational excellence.
