Software Engineer (GenAI)

An Opportunity for Software Engineer with strong GenAI affinity in a leading finance organisation in the Netherlands. You stay fully up to date with developments in generative AI and use AI agents as part of your daily engineering workflow—not as a novelty, but as a practical productivity multiplier. You know when to delegate to AI, how to steer it effectively, and how to critically assess the output.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement GenAI-powered applications and prototypes, end to end, running locally within hours
• Use AI agents as part of your development process, delegating well-defined tasks and validating results
• Build and reason about AI agents (planning, tool use, memory, orchestration) without relying solely on frameworks
• Experiment with and implement concepts such as skills and/or MCP in real systems
• Develop backend services primarily in Python and/or Go
• Build simple but effective frontends using a modern frontend framework
• Deploy and run workloads on Azure, using appropriate cloud services
• Make pragmatic technical decisions, balancing speed, correctness, and maintainability

Requirements:

• Strong GenAI affinity and a clear understanding of current GenAI capabilities and limitations
• Hands-on experience building GenAI-enabled systems, not just integrating APIs
• Practical understanding of what an AI agent is and how to implement one from scratch
• Experience with at least one of:
• Skills-based architectures
• Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Ability to prototype and iterate extremely quickly without waiting on wireframes or Figma
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically
• Experience with:
• Python and/or Go
• At least one modern frontend framework (e.g. React, Vue, Svelte, or similar)
• Azure cloud services

Nice to have

• Experience building developer tools or internal platforms
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, tool calling, and agent orchestration patterns
• Experience running GenAI workloads in production environments
• Strong product sense and comfort working with loosely defined problem statements
