About Attimo
Attimo’s vision is to create a world where every moment of inspiration flows into creativity and productivity.
Our mission is to build a cognitively ergonomic information management system that fits the flow of life.
The role
We’re looking for an AI Engineer Intern to help us build and ship production-grade LLM features for Panovia’s MVP. This is not a research-only role: you’ll turn LLM capabilities into reliable, testable product features that users can trust.
What you’ll work on
Depending on your strengths, you’ll contribute to several of the following areas:
• AI extraction & metadata pipeline
- Extract text and metadata from PDFs, DOCX, images (including OCR where needed)
- Normalize/structure extracted content for indexing and retrieval
- Improve robustness across real-world messy documents
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for “cited answers”
- Build/iterate on chunking strategies, embeddings, and retrieval pipelines
- Implement answer generation that references source documents and passages
- Handle common failure modes (missing context, ambiguity, hallucinations)
• Vector search & knowledge organization
- Work with at least one vector database (e.g., Pinecone/Chroma/Weaviate/pgvector-style approaches)
- Optimize relevance with filtering (metadata), reranking, caching, and query rewriting
• Reliability, evaluation, and developer-quality AI
- Add rate-limit handling, retries, fallbacks, and safe timeouts
- Build lightweight evaluation harnesses (golden test queries, regression tests, qualitative scoring)
- Track latency/cost tradeoffs and improve user-perceived performance
• Integration into the product
- Expose AI capabilities via clean APIs to the rest of the system
- Collaborate with backend/frontend engineers to ship end-to-end user features
- Write documentation that makes the system maintainable
Core requirements (must-have)
1) Python fundamentals
• Strong Python programming skills (not just notebooks)
• Understanding of OOP, async programming, and error handling
• Comfortable with virtual environments and package management
• Can write production-quality Python code
2) LLM development experience
• Built at least 2–3 projects using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.)
• Understands prompts, tokens, context windows, temperature, and streaming
• Experience with prompt engineering and optimization
• Familiar with LLM limitations and failure modes
3) AI application building
• Can integrate LLMs into applications (not just Jupyter notebooks)
• Built at least one end-to-end AI application (even if simple)
• Understands API rate limits, retries, and failure handling
• Experience with at least one LLM framework (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
4) Basic ML/AI knowledge
• Understanding of embeddings and vector similarity
• Familiar with RAG, fine-tuning, and few-shot learning
• Can explain when to use different AI approaches
• Has worked with at least one vector database (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Weaviate, etc.)
5) Development fundamentals
• Git/GitHub workflow
• Can write clear documentation
• Basic API integration skills
• Strong debugging and problem-solving
Nice to have
• FastAPI experience (or similar backend framework experience)
• Experience with structured extraction (schemas, validation, Pydantic-style workflows)
• Experience with evaluation/observability for LLM apps (even lightweight)
• Familiarity with privacy/security-by-design constraints for document systems
How we work
• Product-first engineering: we ship, measure, improve.
• Reliability matters: we care about citations, correctness, and graceful failure.
• Clear communication: short feedback loops, readable PRs, and practical documentation.
How to apply
Apply via LinkedIn with:
• Your CV (or LinkedIn profile) and a link to GitHub/portfolio
• 1–2 examples of relevant work (LLM apps, RAG projects, extraction pipelines, etc.)
• A short note (3–6 sentences) on what you’d want to build or improve in an AI document product
Important: Attimo will never ask applicants to pay to apply or to receive an offer.
Equal opportunity
Attimo is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on protected characteristics.
Employment type: Internship (Part-time or Full-time), fixed-term (3–6 months)
Compensation: Paid internship (details shared during the process)
Work authorization: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the role location for the duration of the internship.
