Senior IT Network Specialist

About the Role
As a Senior IT Network Specialist, you will be a key member of the Agile Network Product Team within the ICT Core domain. Operating in a DevOps environment, you will collaborate closely with the Product Owner, Architects, and Engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions supporting over 50 global offices, including the headquarters in the Netherlands.
Your Responsibilities
In this senior role, you will take a leadership position within the agile team, jointly owning the network product roadmap with the Product Owner and Product Architect. You will contribute to designing and delivering network-related epics and features as part of the Agile Release Train (ART).
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and refining both high- and low-level network architectures, focusing on security (Zero-Trust, NIS2, ISO27001), performance, and user experience.
- Driving automation and continuous improvement through CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code, using tools such as Terraform, AWX Ansible, Python, and the Atlassian suite.
- Collaborating closely with ICT and business stakeholders to translate use cases into secure and efficient network solutions.
- Acting as a technical escalation point and coordinating with vendors on complex issues.
- Ensuring knowledge sharing and thorough documentation within the team and for support teams.
- Maintaining optimal performance of the global network infrastructure by continuously monitoring and optimizing availability and reliability.
- Leading the resolution of critical incidents and execution of complex changes.
- Participating actively in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog refinement to align network priorities with business objectives.
- Designing and developing network solutions compliant with evolving business needs and security policies.
- Working with modern network and security technologies, including Aruba CX (switching, routing, EVPN, VXLAN, BGP), Aruba Wireless and ClearPass, Check Point firewalls, F5 Application Delivery Controllers, and WAN technologies (Internet, IPsec VPN, SD-WAN).
- Leveraging automation tools like NetBox, AWX Ansible, Terraform, and Python to enhance infrastructure efficiency and consistency.
Your Profile
You bring the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT (or equivalent).
- 8+ years of experience in IT networking with strong technical expertise in the relevant technologies and tools.
- Proven communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in global enterprise environments with strong IT-business collaboration.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and product team dynamics.
