Senior Python Engineer

Location: Vienna, Austria

Work model: Remote in Europe (quarterly on-site visits, 1 week in Vienna)

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is a true Python expert and a hands-on developer, motivated to tackle the challenges of scaling a platform used by hundreds of customers.

You enjoy working with new technologies, validating ideas through POCs, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. You are analytical, pragmatic, and enjoy mentoring others through example.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code
• Contribute to and shape the overall application architecture
• Concept, design, and deliver new core features with scalability and reusability in mind
• Ensure and continuously improve code quality across the organization
• Implement server-side logic to support user-facing features developed by frontend teams
• Identify performance bottlenecks and bugs, and implement effective solutions
• Work in an agile environment with cross-disciplinary teams

Requirements

• Excellent and in-depth knowledge of Python, including its syntax and nuances
• Strong experience with AWS and Git
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Experience with modern applications and testing frameworks
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, ORMs, and mocking (GraphQL is a plus)
• Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code
• Strong understanding of scalable system design principles
• Experience designing database schemas that support business processes
• Proficiency with CI/CD practices and tools
• Familiarity with development tools such as Poetry or Pantsbuild
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is a plus
• Experience with cloud automation is a plus
