Senior Business Analyst

Job Title: Business Analyst – Digital Assets & Blockchain Payments

Location: Toronto, ON Hybrid

Duration: 6 Months Contract (Possible Extension)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong expertise in Digital Assets, Blockchain, and Emerging Payments to support the design, analysis, and delivery of next-generation payment solutions. The role involves close collaboration with business, technology, risk, and compliance teams to translate complex digital-asset initiatives into scalable, compliant, and high-impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

Engage with business and technology stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document requirements for blockchain and digital-asset payment initiatives.

Translate complex business objectives into clear functional and non-functional requirements.

Develop process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and target operating models for blockchain-based payment use cases.

Support end-to-end requirements management from discovery through implementation.

2. Emerging Payments Strategy & Solutioning

• Analyze industry and market trends related to:
• Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)
• Stablecoins and tokenized deposits
• Cross-border crypto payments
• DeFi protocols
• ISO 20022 messaging standards
• Real-time and near-real-time settlement models
• Support strategic evaluations of new payment rails, blockchain platforms, and ecosystem partners.
• Identify opportunities to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and client value using digital-asset-based solutions.

3. Technical & Functional Collaboration

• Partner with engineering, architecture, and product teams to evaluate:
• Blockchain platforms (e.g., stablecoin infrastructures)
• Layer-2 scaling solutions
• Custody, key management, and settlement frameworks
• Participate in solution design and architecture workshops, ensuring business requirements are accurately represented.
• Act as a bridge between business and technical teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.

4. Risk, Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

• Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to address regulatory considerations related to:
• Digital assets and cryptocurrencies
• AML/KYC and FATF Travel Rule requirements
• Securities, payments, and financial regulations
• Data privacy and cybersecurity controls
• Conduct regulatory impact assessments for new or evolving blockchain and digital-asset regulations.

5. Testing, Validation & Implementation Support

• Develop test cases, UAT scenarios, and acceptance criteria aligned with business requirements.
• Support UAT execution, defect tracking, and remediation activities.
• Partner with delivery teams to ensure readiness for go-live and post-implementation support.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Produce high-quality documentation including BRDs, Functional Specifications (FS/FSDs), process maps, and workflow diagrams.
• Prepare executive summaries, dashboards, and status updates for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within Payments, FinTech, Banking, or Financial Services.

Strong understanding of:

• Digital assets and cryptocurrencies
• Stablecoins and CBDCs
• Blockchain and distributed ledger technologies
• Tokenization frameworks
• Proven experience translating business needs into functional requirements and user stories.
• Hands-on experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Figma, or similar.

Preferred

• Knowledge of ISO 20022, SWIFT gpi, real-time payments, and cross-border remittance flows.
• Experience with blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric, or Corda.
• Familiarity with smart contracts, custody models, and blockchain security concepts.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, CSPO, CSM, Blockchain certifications).
