Software Developer – Logistics Operations Tool Center

• Location: Veldhoven
• Salary: € 3.500 - € 4.300
• Assignment for initially 12 months – extension could be discussed after a year

Introduction to the role

The Logistics Operations (LO) Business Support department provides professional Tool Management support to ensure manufacturing excellence within the Logistics Operations Tool Center. The team supports daily operations with a software application that ensures tools are available at the right time and place, in compliance with applicable safety regulations and quality standards.

As a team, we are driven to continuously improve our support in a safe, structured way within a high-tech logistics and technical environment. As part of LEAN deployment, we focus on creating, simplifying, and standardizing processes, aiming to increase quality while reducing costs.

Tool-related information is maintained in SAP. In addition, a custom software application called VESPA (built in PHP) has been developed to interface with SAP, enabling process measurement and optimization.

The Software Developer within the Business Support team is responsible for optimizing, expanding, and maintaining the VESPA application used to support tool management processes and services. Currently, the organization is transitioning away from VESPA and replacing its functionality with SAP EWM. Your role will be to support this transition, which involves quickly becoming familiar with the existing VESPA application and contributing to its controlled decommissioning during the phase-out process.

Role and responsibilities

• Optimize and maintain the Tool Center application (PHP-based)
• Translate process improvement requests into software capabilities within the existing application
• Document and maintain technical documentation
• Work closely with Tool Center Engineers (two software developers/engineers and three process engineers)
• Act as backup for team members and safeguard knowledge continuity
• Act as key user for supporting applications (SAP, Excel, PHP applications)
• Provide 1st and 2nd line support to VESPA users and continuous improvement initiatives

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a similar field
• PHP frameworks, specifically Laravel (required)
• MySQL databases
• HTML and CSS
• JavaScript and jQuery
• Software design experience (front-end and back-end)
• Experience with project management
• Knowledge of SharePoint, Excel, SAP, and reporting tools (e.g. Spotfire), or willingness to learn
• Linux and WebSockets knowledge is a plus
• Knowledge of logistics and/or warehouse processes is a plus
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
