Digitization @ Miele requires constantly increasing IT performance to support our specific processes worldwide and to connect our innovative products.
We are looking for a Network Engineer specialised in Firewall for our global network team as a part of Brasov IT Infrastructure Service Team. Our IT IS team provides service for our Miele Group.
Our IT IS team is responsible for the stable, high-performance and secure operation of our local and wide area networks, wireless technologies as well as basic network services and monitoring. To connect and secure our IT systems in more than 180 locations with our central data centers and our cloud applications, we use modern technologies such as IPSEC, MPLS, SD-WAN, prioritization (QoS), cloud proxy, routing, switching and zoning based on the network (VR) and IDS/ IPS Layer-7 firewalls. Our market-leading products are manufactured in state-of-the-art with best-in-class technology.
Your responsibilities:
- Administrate and manage (technical operations) the network infrastructure in field of Wireless LAN, Datacentre Networks, Local Networks.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
- Support the configuration and management of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and document network standards and procedures.
- Assist in the setup and management of network security protocols and measures.
- Participate in network capacity planning and optimization efforts.
- Participate in network automation tasks.
- Collaborate with the team in software and hardware rollouts globally.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on network-related issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents.
- Support disaster recovery and backup solutions for network systems.
- Day-to-day support of internal and external users with network requirements.
- Stay updated on emerging networking technologies and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as well as documentation of network design and operational requirements.
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in the IT field or relevant comparable qualification (e.g. Computer Science)
- First experience in network operations.
- Solid understanding of IT-networking concepts TCP/IP, subnetting, routing and switching
- Knowledge of protocols as TCP-IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, OSPF and ISO/OSI Model
- Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls).
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques. (e.g. Wireshark)
- Experience with network configuration and management (e.g., VLANs, VPNs).
- Certification is preferred but not mandatory (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA)
- Ability to work in a team, initiative and the willingness for continuous further training in an international network security team
- Strong troubleshooting skills and self-driven and responsible person, high customer orientation and high degree of personal initiative and flexibility
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal communications skills in English, German is a plus.
