Lead System Engineer

Our client works on very challenging and exciting projects and is looking for a Lead System Engineer.

Core Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Python Developer, with exposure to Java and Shell scripting.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, web architectures, application servers, and unit & integration testing.
• Proven experience working in cloud-native environments, with a strong focus on AWS.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Hands-on experience with AWS serverless and core services, including:
• EC2, EKS (Kubernetes), VPC
• Transit Gateway, PrivateLink
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Good working knowledge of Linux fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps for source control, pipelines, and release management.

Containers & Microservices

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
• Extensive experience with container technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating containerised applications in production environments.

CI/CD & Reliability

• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar tools).
• Strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset, with a focus on system stability, scalability, and performance.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Splunk, or similar platforms.

Certifications (Desirable)

• AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification or equivalent practical experience.
