We are seeking a deep technical authority to join us as a Solutions Engineer (SE). This role requires mastery beyond product knowledge — you will be the definitive authority who customers and internal teams rely on to solve the most sophisticated challenges. As an SE at Cisco, you will be the authority for your architecture, driving our most technical sales by demonstrating undeniable expertise and earning customer trust through your deep knowledge and outstanding skills. Your mastery will unlock our customers' success.
In This Role, You Will
Be the Technical Authority: Own and win technical decisions in your specialization. Lead breakdown sessions, competitive bake-offs, and sophisticated proofs-of-value that demonstrate Cisco's technology.
Master and Promote: Serve as the go-to authority for Cloud & AI, articulating vision, strategy, and technical details to audiences ranging from engineers to executives.
Design for Complexity: Architect and validate advanced datacenter solutions addressing customers' most demanding requirements, ensuring technical excellence and adaptability.
Win as a Team: Collaborate with Portfolio Solutions Engineers and Account Managers to provide critical domain expertise needed to win strategic opportunities. You are the authoritative voice on the account team.
Mentor and Scale Expertise: Act as a force multiplier by mentoring and enabling the broader SE community on your technology. Develop and share protocols that elevate the entire organization.
Influence Product Direction: Provide critical feedback to Cisco’s engineering and business units. Your real-world insights will directly influence product roadmaps and futures.

Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering or a similar deep technical role (e.g., professional services, technical marketing, senior network/security architect).
- 2+ years of broad and deep technical knowledge across at least two of the following: server technology, storage technology, and data center networking.
- Proven architecture and build experience across data center and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Hands-on with Cisco UCS, VMware, Microsoft, Redhat and Nutanix.
Extensive hands-on experience with datacenter technologies, including:
- VMware: Deploying, configuring, and managing VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server; managing VMware lifecycle operations with automation tools such as Ansible.
- Server Deployment: Performing server provisioning and deployment tasks, including bare-metal server setup, firmware updates, network configuration using Cisco UCS infrastructure, and cluster lifecycle management.
- Red Hat: Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers; managing Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization environments; automating infrastructure deployment and management using Red Hat and Cisco validated designs and Ansible automation.
- Relevant industry certifications in your specialty and / or Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Strong understanding of automation, APIs, and programmability within your domain of expertise.
