We are seeking a Junior IT Security Engineer / SOC Engineer to join our client’s team in the banking sector. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in ensuring the security and stability of IT infrastructure, working within a Security Operations Center (SOC). You will monitor, detect, and respond to cyber threats, collaborating closely with senior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement of security measures.

Threat Detection & Response:
- Monitor IT systems and networks to detect and respond to security incidents.
- Investigate security alerts and assist in determining appropriate actions to resolve incidents.
- Escalate incidents as needed and provide detailed documentation of findings.
Incident Analysis:
- Dive into log files and system data to identify root causes of incidents.
- Assist in the fine-tuning of security alerts and incident response protocols.
System Monitoring & Maintenance:
- Continuously monitor critical servers, systems, and applications to ensure secure operations.
- Test and enhance security systems to reduce vulnerabilities and improve efficiency.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
- Work with senior engineers and team members to implement security improvements.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on security best practices.
Continuous Improvement:
- Support post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
- Suggest and implement optimizations in processes, tools, and communication workflows.
Foundational Knowledge:
- Understanding of IT operating systems and middleware (Windows, Linux, Unix).
- Basic awareness of malware types, cyber-attack techniques, and the kill chain.
Tools & Technologies:
- Security monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., SIEM).
- Network security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS.
- Ticketing systems for incident management.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- NL/UK Mandatory
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
