IT Project Manager 6 month contract with Gold Coast Employer

Your new company

Our client is undertaking two significant service‑transformation programs that will reshape how key services are delivered across the Gold Coast. With a strong focus on modernising operations, improving service models, and exploring outsourced delivery, the organisation is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to step in immediately and drive clarity, structure, and momentum across both projects.

Your new role

You will lead the delivery of two concurrent service‑transformation projects, each focused on evaluating and transitioning city‑managed services to external providers. These projects involve process redesign, automation opportunities, vendor selection, organisational impacts, and full service‑transition planning.
Your responsibilities include:
  • Building and maintaining detailed project schedules, critical paths, RAID logs, and delivery plans.
  • Facilitating stand‑ups, portfolio meetings, and steering updates, ensuring accountability for milestones and dependencies.
  • Leading cross‑functional teams including BA's, Change/Comms, Procurement, and other specialists - empowering them rather than absorbing their work.
  • Managing complex stakeholder groups across GM and EGM levels.
  • Overseeing vendor engagement, evaluation, negotiation, and transition planning.
  • Navigating organisational impacts such as redeployment, role changes, and potential redundancies.
  • Inspiring and guiding the project team to deliver outcomes with confidence and clarity.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Property & Facilities Management Industry knowledge is very advantageous.
  • Proven experience delivering large, complex transformation projects, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong project planning capability - scheduling, dependencies, critical path, governance, and reporting.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at GM/EGM levels.
  • Experience with outsourcing, vendor selection, or service transition.
  • A collaborative leadership style that empowers specialists and fosters team cohesion.
  • Comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive organisational impacts with professionalism and empathy.
  • A structured, organised, and delivery‑focused approach.

What you'll get in return

  • Contract through to 30 June (EOFY) with a possibility of extension through project completion.
  • Rates $110 - $120 per hour + super.
  • Hybrid working - typically 1-2 days per week in the office (Gold Coast).
  • Opportunity to lead two high‑impact transformation projects that will shape the future of city services.
  • Support from experienced leaders and access to specialist resources across BA, Change, Comms, and Procurement.
  • A role where your leadership, structure, and influence will make a visible difference.
