Business Analyst

Overview

The Senior Business Analyst provides comprehensive business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technological needs. This role involves engaging with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, document, and analyze requirements, supporting I&IT solution development. The role also involves advising on best practices and promoting consistent business analysis standards across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct business analysis to assess client business problems/opportunities and document requirements to support I&IT solutions.
• Lead requirements gathering sessions including JAD sessions, interviews, and mockups.
• Conduct business modeling, use case modeling, conceptual/logical data modeling, and process/data flow modeling.
• Define business rules and non-functional requirements for assigned projects.
• Develop strategies, business cases, and cost-benefit analyses; conduct feasibility studies for I&IT initiatives.
• Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and report to I&IT management and stakeholders.
• Develop performance measures, traceability matrices, and follow-up evaluations for business analysis deliverables.
• Apply re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through alternative and cost-effective service delivery approaches.
• Ensure alignment with OPS Unified Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Architecture, and Standard Systems Development Methodologies.
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, and developers to refine backlog items and ensure requirements are accurately implemented.
  
  

Must-Haves

• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Proficient in conducting JAD sessions and brainstorming workshops for large web-based applications and data analytics solutions.
• Skilled in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements, business rules, use cases, and user stories.
• Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in large project settings.
• Ability to write user stories with clear acceptance criteria (e.g., As a [user], I want [goal], so that [benefit]).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), MS Teams, and Azure DevOps.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Experience in business functional modeling, business event modeling, business process mapping, and developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation.
• Knowledge of structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for user requirements.
• Awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies.
• Experience with information retrieval tools and translating business/data requirements into technology specifications.
• Understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Experience in UX/UI design and information management principles.
