Senior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer / Data Scientist to join a cross-functional product team working on customer-facing ML solutions, with a strong focus on recommendation systems and experimentation. The role is hands-on and product-driven, covering the full end-to-end ML lifecycle, from problem definition to production deployment and continuous optimization.

You will collaborate closely with data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, analysts, and UX designers to build models that create measurable customer value.

Location: Amsterdam

Onsite: 3 days per week

Key responsibilities

• Define ML problems together with product and engineering teams
• Build, deploy, and iterate on production-grade ML models
• Apply and evolve recommendation systems and ranking approaches
• Lead and evaluate A/B testing for model performance and impact
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and opportunities
• Ensure models are robust, scalable, and production-ready
• Stay up to date with ML and data science advancements

Key requirements (must-haves)

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with production ML systems
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals and deep learning
• Proven experience deploying models end-to-end into production
• Strong skills in Python and SQL
• Solid understanding of statistics, mathematics, and A/B testing
• Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional product teams

Nice to have

• Experience with recommendation systems, reinforcement learning, or learn-to-rank
• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Background from product-led or data-driven environments
