DevOps Specialist

Job Title – Application Release Engineer V / Sr Devops Engineer

Period – 6 Months

Location – Toronto, ON

Role Overview:

The Application Release Engineer V role focuses on cloud automation and release orchestration across Azure and VMware Cloud environments. The position emphasizes release engineering best practices, infrastructure as code, and end-to-end automation to improve scalability, reliability, and speed to market across banking platforms. Strong stakeholder engagement and a customer-first mindset are critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide integrated guidance across software versioning, build, test, packaging, and deployment processes
• Implement and standardize release engineering best practices across multiple environments
• Drive automation throughout the deployment pipeline, including source control, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
• Build integrations that improve system reliability, scalability, efficiency, and time to market
• Support multiple initiatives within the portfolio and forward-deploy to assist on various projects and platforms

Required Skills & Experience:

Azure & VMware Cloud: 7+ years of hands-on experience

Infrastructure as Code & CI/CD: Strong experience with Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions (7+ years)

Containers & Kubernetes: 7+ years of experience

Customer Focus: 10+ years prioritizing customer needs and making sound engineering trade-offs

Critical Thinking: 10+ years of anticipating partner needs and making informed technical decisions

Technical Background: 10+ years in a technical engineering role

Day-to-Day / Work Style:

• Heavy stakeholder interaction (~75% of the role)
• Focus on standardizing and hardening release pipelines
• Improve automation, reliability, and scalability across enterprise platforms
