Senior Network Architect / Network Optimization Lead
Contract | 40 Hours per Week | Remote (Western Canada – PST/MST)

With more than 250 sites and 300+ firewalls operating primarily on Fortinet and Azure-based firewall platforms, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer / Architect who has a proven track record designing, assessing, and transforming complex enterprise networks.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess current enterprise network architecture and identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Design and implement optimized network and security architectures with a focus on reliability, scalability, and resiliency
- Establish network standards, reference architectures, and operational best practices
- Lead improvements to firewall architecture, segmentation, and security posture (Fortinet & Azure)
- Develop and document processes, runbooks, and support models to reduce operational noise and recurring issues
- Recommend appropriate tools, platforms, and technologies to support long-term network health
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to internal engineering staff
- Support change planning, impact analysis, and execution of network improvements
- Produce high-quality technical and business documentation, including architecture diagrams and design specifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience designing and improving large-scale enterprise network environments
- 5+ years in enterprise network operations including administration, monitoring, and support
- Demonstrated experience leading network assessments and improvement initiatives
- Experience contributing to or leading change management activities
- Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers
Required Technical Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of Fortinet firewall solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer)
- Advanced understanding of Azure networking and Azure Firewall / cloud security
- Strong expertise with switching and routing technologies
- Expert knowledge of Windows-based enterprise networks
- Deep understanding of network operations, processes, and best-practice frameworks
- Strong documentation and technical writing capability
