Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Software Engineer (Android) to join an innovative Urban Solutions team focused on building next-generation micro-mobility platforms. This role is ideal for an Android engineer who thrives in modern Kotlin development and enjoys extending impact beyond mobile by contributing to Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) services using Python.

You will play a key role in evolving a scalable Android platform used across multiple markets and business models, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a bilingual (English/French) environment.

Core Technical Skills

Required

• Strong experience developing Android applications using Kotlin
• Solid understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture
• Experience integrating and consuming RESTful APIs
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control workflows
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Ability to produce technical documentation (Tech Specs, design decisions)

Preferred

• Experience with Python for backend or BFF development
• Familiarity with Backend for Frontend (BFF) architectural patterns
• Experience with RxJava or Kotlin Coroutines
• Familiarity with Flask or similar Python frameworks
• Experience with performance monitoring and profiling tools

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Protobuf
• Experience deploying backend services
• Previous work in large-scale or multi-market platforms
• French language proficiency

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally
• Mentorship and code-review experience
• Strong ownership mentality from concept through deployment

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications
• Build and support Backend-for-Frontend services using Python
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new features
• Write technical specifications aligned with product requirements
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers
• Optimize mobile and backend performance and reliability
• Manage Android app releases, including testing and Play Store submissions
• Advocate for user experience and continuous improvement
