About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer Staff (Level 4) to join our Space Software Product Line (SSPL) organization. In this role, you will lead embedded software development efforts for space and missile flight software deployed across multiple programs and projects. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define, develop, and execute a comprehensive roadmap of capabilities and features. You will assume technical leadership for program deliveries, initially focusing on SDA programs with potential expansion to other projects based on organizational needs. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely full-time, contribute to cutting-edge space technology, and influence the future of space exploration and security.

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership or product ownership in software projects.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and Scrum teams.
  • Experience presenting complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance (Top Secret clearance preferred).
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), such as UNIX/Linux or VxWorks.
  • Experience deploying embedded flight software to hardware test environments or higher-level assembly integration and testing.
  • Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools including JIRA, Git, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Secure Boot, Zero Trust Architecture, and government cybersecurity standards (e.g., RMF Cyber Controls, NIST SP 800 series).
  • Experience working within government-owned/contractor-operated (GOCO) environments.
  • Preferred candidates will reside near Lockheed Martin facilities or be willing to relocate.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance or DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead embedded software development efforts for space and missile flight software across multiple programs.
  • Collaborate with software teams and stakeholders to create, refine, and execute project roadmaps and feature sets.
  • Assume technical leadership responsibilities, ensuring timely and high-quality program deliveries.
  • Develop and maintain software documentation, technical reports, and status updates.
  • Deploy embedded software to hardware test environments and oversee integration testing processes.
  • Implement best practices for software development, including Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system testing to ensure software quality and compliance with standards.
  • Maintain awareness of cybersecurity requirements and implement necessary security controls in software development.
  • Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to embedded systems.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, emerging technologies, and government regulations relevant to space software development.
