We're hiring our first Head of Design: the person who will define what great design means at Katapult, build the practice from the ground up, and lead design execution across our entire client portfolio.

The role

This is a founding role. You'll own design horizontally — across every client engagement, every product, every visual touchpoint Katapult produces. You'll set the standard, build the systems, and do a meaningful amount of the work yourself.

You'll work directly with Katapult's founders and leadership team, embedded in client projects where design is a competitive differentiator. The scope spans product design, brand, and the creative direction of what our clients put into the world.

What You'll Own

Design practice — Define what great design looks like at Katapult. Establish the principles, processes, and quality bar that apply across every engagement.

Client design leadership — Lead design strategy and execution for key client projects. Be the senior design voice in the room: shaping product direction, challenging briefs, and delivering work that moves the needle.

Brand & visual identity — Own the creative direction for client brands — from visual systems and packaging to digital products and marketing — with genuine artistic sensibility.

Product & digital design — Set the standard for UI/UX across Katapult's client portfolio: mobile apps, web products, e-commerce experiences, design systems.

Team building — Hire, lead, and grow Katapult's design team over time. Define how designers work, grow, and deliver inside the organization.

What We're Looking For

• A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional taste across brand and product — the kind that makes people stop and look twice
• 8+ years of design experience spanning brand identity, product design, and creative direction
• A track record of building or significantly elevating a design practice, not just executing within one
• Fluency across the full design stack: visual identity, UX/UI, design systems, art direction
• Strong artistic sensibility — references outside of design that are visible in the work
• Experience leading designers and collaborating directly with founders and senior stakeholders
• Comfort operating across multiple projects and clients simultaneously
• Curiosity for AI-native design tools and workflows — this is an AI-first environment

• A role inside a single product team. You'll operate across the entire portfolio.
• A position where design is handed specs and asked to execute. You'll define the brief as often as you receive one.
