Hi There!

We are seeking an Android Developer with around five years of experience to join a high-performing engineering environment. As a Software Engineer II, you will own the execution of technical components across the tech stack, delivering scalable, maintainable and well-tested mobile solutions. This role focuses on building Android applications with high-quality standards while contributing to system reliability, architectural discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will implement technical solutions based on business requirements, estimate impact and effort, and demonstrate a strong level of craftsmanship in both production code and automated testing. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders to design, prioritise, and deliver impactful technical tasks. You will monitor the health and performance of your services end-to-end, manage deployments, participate in on-call rotations and actively resolve production incidents through root cause analysis.

The ideal engineer applies modern engineering practices, contributes to improving processes and architectural direction, communicates effectively, and seeks opportunities to level up the team's technical capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Build Android applications using modern development languages and tools
  • Deliver readable, reusable and testable code applying standard patterns and libraries
  • Refactor and simplify codebases using appropriate design patterns
  • Ensure high-quality automated testing aligned with the team's test strategy
  • Safeguard data quality, security and integrity by applying engineering best practices
  • Own services end-to-end, including monitoring, metrics, documentation and operational readiness
  • Reduce risks through continuous delivery, experimentation and improving reliability
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents, contributing to postmortems and long-term fixes
  • Collaborate in software system design and evaluate architecture options for cost, scalability and future change
  • Identify opportunities for process and performance improvements and implement relevant enhancements
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with team members and stakeholders
  • Participate in an on-call rotation when required
Required Skills
  • Around 5 years of Android development experience
  • Strong Kotlin experience and knowledge of modern Android architecture patterns
  • Experience with automated testing on Android (unit, integration, UI)
  • Understanding of CI/CD, production deployments and monitoring
  • Strong analytical, debugging and incident-resolution skills
  • Experience with system design principles
  • Good communication and cross-team collaboration abilities
  • Experience working in high-scale environments is a strong plus
