About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (Freelance) to join our client’s mission-critical FOCUS Towing platform for a 21-month engagement in Antwerp, Belgium. This is a freelance opportunity for a true builder who thrives on ownership, technical maturity, and impact. You’ll help shape a scalable, high-performance platform that supports the operational and administrative processes of towing orders within a socially relevant context. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will be instrumental in elevating the platform’s scalability, security, and maintainability. What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and developing robust backend services using Node.js (TypeScript-first approach)
• Building high-performance, maintainable frontends with React
• Working with PostgreSQL in a production environment
• Contributing to architectural decisions, scalability, and security enhancements
• Implementing test automation and ensuring code quality through CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborating within an Agile/Scrum team, actively driving improvements in ways of working
• Coaching and mentoring fellow developers to elevate team capability
• Taking ownership of technical choices and development standards across the platform

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in application-based software development
• Proven expertise in backend development with Node.js (TypeScript and JavaScript in production)
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and relational databases
• Advanced skills in building modern frontends with React
• Hands-on experience with test automation and CI/CD pipelines
• Solid knowledge of Docker and containerization
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coach development teams
• Fluency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, with the ability to take a leadership role
• Proven track record of coding, testing, and debugging with high efficiency
• Ownership mindset, technical maturity, and a drive for continuous improvement

Language Proficiency

• Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (mandatory)
