Job Overview

  • A Junior Data Scientist is responsible for supporting data-driven decision-making through data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques. This role involves working with structured and unstructured datasets to generate insights, build predictive models, and contribute to analytics projects across business functions. The position is fully remote and open to candidates located in Canada.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain statistical and machine learning models under senior guidance.
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings clearly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Assist in deploying and monitoring data models in production environments.
  • Document methodologies, workflows, and analysis results.
  • Support ongoing data quality and data governance initiatives.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 0–1 years of professional or internship experience in data analysis or data science.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with SQL and working with relational databases.
  • Understanding of basic machine learning concepts and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python visualization libraries.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
  • Exposure to big data tools or distributed computing frameworks.
  • Portfolio, academic projects, or GitHub repository demonstrating data science work.
