We are now looking for an AI Engineer to join us in Helsinki in a permanent position. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing AI solutions to meet business needs.

To succeed in this role, you have hands-on experience in developing and deploying AI solutions. You have participated in projects where AI has been genuinely used to create value for both the business and customers. You are familiar with process-driven development—particularly business process development—and can identify improvement areas and integrate solutions into day-to-day operations. You work naturally as part of a multidisciplinary team and have experience collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders. We value an analytical mindset, proactivity, and strong problem-solving skills. You communicate fluently in English. Proficiency in Finnish is considered an advantage.

The position is located within OP Pohjola’s Retail Banking AI & Automation squad, where we develop AI and automation solutions to support and enhance OP Pohjola’s retail banking business. At the core of our team is the use of new technologies to improve customer experience and streamline business processes. We work on development initiatives that make a real impact, in close collaboration with business experts, combining technology, data, and business understanding into concrete solutions.

The role includes
- Understanding and assessing business needs and identifying opportunities to leverage AI (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, generative models, agentic AI) to support business process development and decision‑making.
- Designing, developing, and implementing AI solutions in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
- Ensuring the functionality, scalability, and maintainability of AI solutions, and contributing to their continuous development and optimization.
- Supporting the ethical, reliable, and transparent use of AI, including proper documentation.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of the Azure infrastructure required for AI development.
- Staying up to date with AI developments and technologies and evaluating their applicability to OP Pohjola’s needs.
