About the Role

This Project Manager position is designed for a mid-to-senior level professional with a strong background in managing complex projects within a research and development (R&D) environment. The role is pivotal in driving innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects from conception through completion. With a focus on advanced technology initiatives, the Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage resources, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives, all while maintaining rigorous standards for quality, budget, and timelines. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of R&D projects, including initial planning, resource allocation, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring all deliverables meet defined objectives and quality standards.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed timelines, milestones, risk assessments, and contingency strategies tailored to the unique challenges of R&D initiatives.
• Coordinate and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and technical experts, fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Monitor project progress using industry-standard project management methodologies (such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, or Agile), and proactively address deviations from scope, schedule, or budget.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure optimal utilization of resources while maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and deliver regular project status reports, presentations, and documentation for stakeholders, including executive leadership, sponsors, and external partners.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential obstacles are addressed promptly to minimize impact on project outcomes.
• Oversee procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiations as required for project success.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practices in project management within the R&D context.
• Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant safety, ethical, and regulatory standards, particularly those applicable to research and technology development.

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in project management, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects in R&D, technology, engineering, or scientific environments.
• Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Asana, or equivalent platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and facilitate effective collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions in a research-driven setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective stakeholder engagement, reporting, and presentation.
• Experience in budget management, financial tracking, and resource optimization for high-value projects.
• Familiarity with regulatory, compliance, and intellectual property considerations relevant to R&D projects.
• High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams and drive accountability.
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, evolving research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, technology, business administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree or higher is highly desirable, especially in a technical or scientific discipline.
• Professional project management certification (such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Certified Practitioner) is strongly preferred.
• Additional training or coursework in R&D management, innovation, or technology commercialization is advantageous.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in project management and leadership.
