Senior Backend Engineer | Up too $160k + Super | Sydney

We’re partnering with a well-established Sydney-based digital product consultancy that builds high-quality web and mobile platforms for recognised Australian brands.

They’re now hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and evolve scalable backend systems powering modern digital products.

This is not a maintenance-heavy or feature-factory environment. Engineers here have genuine ownership over architecture, API design, and technical direction.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing and building scalable backend services using Node.js & TypeScript
• Developing and optimising GraphQL and REST APIs
• Contributing to system architecture and technical strategy
• Ensuring performance, scalability and long-term maintainability
• Collaborating closely with frontend, mobile and product teams
• Mentoring mid-level engineers where required

What They’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js
• Deep understanding of API design (GraphQL & REST)
• Experience with microservices or distributed systems
• Solid grasp of clean architecture and engineering best practices
• Comfortable operating in a high-autonomy, client-facing environment

Location:

Hybrid role in Sydney - 3 days in office (Sydney CBD)

Salary:

Up too $160k + Super
