Job Description
- Play a key role in shaping the Qantas Group’s approach to data privacy, ethics and governance by implementing group‑wide policies, standards and frameworks.
- Act as the subject matter expert across core capability areas while driving awareness and uplift in privacy governance practices.
- Permanent, full-time role based at Jetstar HQ (Melbourne) or Qantas Head Office (Sydney)
The Data Privacy, Ethics and Governance (DPEG) team is accountable for developing and implementing the Group data privacy, ethics and governance approach, including the policies, procedures and standards required to ensure a consistent, coordinated and compliant approach to data across the Group.
The DPEG Manager is responsible for defining and implementing the Qantas Group data privacy, ethics and governance framework and driving the uplift of awareness. The DPEG Manager is expected to be a subject matter expert in one or more of the core DPEG capability areas, namely: Data Privacy, Data Ethics, Data Usage and Commercial Data Governance, Data Management, Data Protection, and Data Risk and Assurance.
What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in an appropriate data-related field
- Relevant tertiary education, preferably with post-graduate qualification
- Demonstrated understanding of data privacy, ethics and governance requirements and awareness of global privacy and data protection regulations
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality when working with sensitive information
- Extensive experience in one or more core DPEG capability areas
- Demonstrated skills in stakeholder management, influencing and training
- Capable of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Leadership and people management skills
- Strategic thinker with highly developed problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership of project delivery and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
- Innovative team player, willing to challenge and debate issues then commit to implement outcomes
- Able to set self-directed work and operate with a high level of autonomy
- Effective time management skills with an ability to prioritise department tasks while working on multiple projects
