Game Economy Designer (F2P mobile game)

PowerUp Talent is partnering with a top-tier mobile game studio in Berlin to find a talented Game Economy Designer to join the team behind a successful idle game and help drive it toward its next major milestones. In this role, you’ll shape and evolve the game’s economy, design progression systems, challenges, and promotions, and ensure long-term balance across monetization, inflation, and player progression.

You’ll work closely with designers, artists, and developers in a fast-paced, agile environment, using player data, segmentation, and F2P best practices to create engaging, sustainable systems that resonate with players.


This role is based in Berlin, with a hybrid set-up, requiring living in Germany and coming minimum one day per week at the office.


Responsibilities

  • Design and balance game economies, monetization systems, and progression features
  • Iterate on player progression and overall game balance to ensure long-term economic health
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed economic thinking into all aspects of game development
  • Build and maintain detailed documentation and spreadsheet models for economic systems
  • Anticipate and prevent exploits, inflation, or unintended player behaviors
  • Use KPIs, player feedback, and segmentation to optimize features and balance
  • Stay up to date with mobile F2P trends and apply insights to improve the game


What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of game economies and balancing
  • Advanced skills in Excel / Google Sheets
  • 3 to 6 years of experience working on mobile games, as a Game Economy Designer
  • Solid knowledge of F2P monetization models
  • Data-driven mindset and experience with analytics
  • Basic understanding of player psychology and motivation
  • Familiarity with Unity
  • Good knowledge of the modern mobile F2P market
  • Strong communication skills in English

Experience working on idle games

Background in maths or statistics
