Job Title: FinOps Data Analyst
Location – Montreal, QC (Hybrid)
Duration – 6+ Months
Job Description:
-Drive adoption of Cloud FinOps capabilities and best practice for cloud cost management within the organization
Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud spend across multiple vendors
-Develop scripts and workflows to automate data collection and reporting (e.g., using Python, SQL)
-Work with partners to design, build and maintain dashboards and reports using BI tools
-Identify cost-saving opportunities through usage analysis, rightsizing, and purchasing strategies (e.g., Reserved Instances, Savings Plans).
-Liaise with technology teams to provide execution support
-Track cost optimization actions and associated value
-Manage vendor commercial incentives (e.g. Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, credits, etc.)
-Support implementation of cost recovery models for non-standard allocations (e.g. shared services & platforms, SaaS, etc.)
Monitor ongoing compliance with cost management standards and procedures
You have:
-Experience in financial analysis / working with large datasets and creation of data-driven executive materials
-Knowledge of IT infrastructure and public cloud concepts
-Database experience (e.g. Structured, Unstructured and Column)
-Experience with Agile development methodology and CI/CD
-Experience with SDLC tools such as Jira, GitHub and Bitbucket
-Experience with public cloud cost management mechanics and tools (native / 3rd party)
-Proactive mindset and ability to work independently in a large organization
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
You might also have:
-Development experience (e.g. Python, Java, ETL, ELT, Swagger)
-Experience data modelling (e.g. PostgreSQL, PowerDesigner
-Experience with analytics databases (e.g. Snowflake)
-Experience in effective IT cost management strategies, models, processes, tools
-Experience with business chargeback / cost recovery models / TCO / capacity planning
-Experience with Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Reserved Instances, vendor discounts and other AWS, Azure, GCP cost mechanics
-Understanding of cloud billing processes and procedures? FinOps / TBM certifications
