The Site operations specialist exercises independent judgment and usually works under minimal supervision, Station point of contact for Network Operations Centers (NOC’s) and Field Operations key Internal customers: Project Management, GFIM, Service Delivery and Service Assurance. He will manage field activities and implement engineering designs in National and international sites.
The basic purpose of the position is to maintain the day to day O&M tasks associated with cable/telexchange stations. This includes: installation and testing of new network equipment as per the Statement of work or Eplan, diagnosing and locating troubles, provisioning new circuits, performance of daily routines to monitor network and equipment health, performing repair and maintenance and restoring service for optimal customer satisfaction.
Will provide 24/7/365 on call support for all the sites and services under the site responsibility on a rotatory basis.
Responsibilities:
- Perform the tasks for the operations and maintenance of the Cable/Telexchange station locations. Perform the daily activities as per SOP.
- Maintaining the Terrestrial and subsea DWDM platforms and various Telecom equipment and network circuits. Perform tasks and work on all infrastructures within site and support or maintain OLA repeater locations where applicable.
- Processing of new Circuit orders, ensuring the provision of new circuits are completed within the SLA.
- Ensuring Network Trouble Tickets are reacted and dealt with in a timely manner.
- Ensuring adequate sparing exists for the installed equipment.
- Implementation of transmission upgrades also on-site new builds (national and international).
- Perform the housekeeping of technical areas – Leased areas, & Colo Rooms.
- Ensure the Building and remote site Preventative Maintenance are completed in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
- Maintain records & data bases up to date for circuit provisioning, inventory, connectivity, RMA, test set calibration, power consumption, trouble ticket, floor plan, shipment, etc…
- Adherence to process
- Travel to remote sites (national/international) as per requirements.
Technical Competencies
- SDH, WDM, MPLS, IP, Fiber Characterization and handling (OTDR, OSA)
- Preferred vendors: Nortel, Ciena, JDSU, Adva, Turin, Cisco and Juniper

Other knowledge/skills
- A knowledge or experience on infrastructure such as Electricity, backup systems, UPS, -48V Battery Plants.
- Maintenance of Subsea Cables / PFE / HPOE / Submarine Fault Location (LME, COTDR)
- Building infrastructure such as Electricity, Generators, Air Conditioning Systems, Fire & Security Systems, Building Management
- Willingness & ability to train others
- French speaker
Minimum qualification & experience
- 5 years minimum in Telecommunications industry
- Experience with International Telecommunications Companies
