What You’ll Do
Provides senior technical leadership in mechanical engineering for complex UPS systems and accessories, with end‑to‑end accountability for system‑level design quality, performance, safety, cost, and cross‑functional integration across R&D programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads mechanical engineering scope for complex UPS systems and accessories, with end‑to‑end accountability for mechanical design outcomes including performance, safety, quality, cost, and compliance across R\&D programs by acting as a lead mechanical engineer. Participates in design work.
- Provides senior‑level technical expertise in advanced mechanical design and analysis, covering structural and thermal design, materials and manufacturing methods, FEM and vibration/seismic analysis, and validation testing for mission‑critical power products.
- Drives design robustness and product reliability through systematic application of DFSS methodologies, design‑for‑safety and maintainability principles, and ownership of complex technical problem solving and root‑cause analysis.
- Leads and coordinates technical side of work of mechanical engineers to help and substitute line manager, assigning and reviewing design work, providing technical direction and mentoring, and ensuring consistent engineering quality and on‑time delivery across projects.
- Acts as mechanical system engineer within multidisciplinary R&D programs, coordinating mechanical activities with electrical, firmware, and other engineering disciplines to ensure coherent system‑level design and integration.
- Owns development and continuous improvement of the mechanical design environment, including tools, processes, and engineering standards, with responsibility for improving design efficiency, quality, and global alignment across Eaton sites.
- Defines, documents, and standardizes mechanical, harness, and assembly designs, including BOM ownership, prototype specification, and hands‑on build and validation support for new product development.
- Provides expert mechanical engineering support to internal stakeholders, including product management, technical support, and sales, contributing to product competitiveness and successful customer solutions.
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 8 years of mechanical design experience
- Deep understanding of material properties & manufacturing methods.
- Multidisciplinary (mechanical, electrical) prototyping capability.
- 3D CAD and other mechanical design tools management and design environment development.
- Good verbal and written communications in English.
- Ability to work in a project team, manage multiple personal tasks without guidance and support work of design engineers.
