My client are a growing software organisation based in Limerick that develops innovative, high-quality digital solutions for regulated and enterprise environments.
They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join their testing team.
Role Overview
The Manual QA Tester will be responsible for designing, creating, and executing tests to ensure product quality, reliability, and performance.
The role will primarily focus on manual testing, with opportunities to contribute to and develop automation skills over time. You will work within an Agile environment and play a key role in ensuring all assigned testing activities are completed, documented, and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, and example mapping sessions
- Review requirements and use cases, providing testing input and effort estimates
- Collaborate with senior testers and cross-functional team members
- Develop test plans, test cases, and contribute to overall test strategy
- Perform Functional and Non-Functional testing, including End-to-End testing, Integration testing, Exploratory testing, Regression testing, Acceptance testing (UAT), Sanity testing, API testing and Performance testing
- Conduct frontend/UI testing and cross-browser/device testing
- Execute API testing using tools such as Postman
- Perform basic database validation using SQL queries
- Analyse, document, and communicate test execution results
- Log, track, and verify defects using defect tracking tools
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members
- Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and productivity
- Ensure adherence to internal quality and audit standards
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups and retrospectives
- Contribute across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements through to release
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in software testing
- Strong experience in manual End-to-End testing and test execution
- Experience testing web-based and mobile applications
- Hands-on experience with test case management and defect tracking tools
- Good understanding of Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) concepts (e.g., Gherkin)
- Basic SQL skills for database querying and validation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- High attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Desirable Skills
- ISTQB (or equivalent) certification
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments (e.g., CSV/CSA)
- Exposure to Non-Functional and API testing
- Experience with reporting, data warehousing, or ETL processes
- Familiarity with release-driven development cycles
- Positive, proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn
