Freelance Go (Golang) Developer

Overview

We are looking for a Go (Golang) Developer with strong platform engineering experience to help build and evolve a modern internal platform used by multiple engineering teams.

This is a hands on engineering role where Go is the primary development language. You will design and build platform tooling, automation and developer facing services that improve the way software is built, deployed and operated across the organisation.

The role sits close to both software engineering and infrastructure, meaning you will collaborate regularly with application teams while building the reusable capabilities they depend on.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain services and tooling using Go (Golang)

• Support the design and implementation of scalable and reliable platform architecture alongside the Platform Engineering Portfolio Owner

• Build and evolve Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that support efficient software delivery

• Automate infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Infrastructure as Code

• Provide developers with self service tooling and workflows from a centrally managed technology platform

• Improve CI/CD pipelines and developer experience across engineering teams

• Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues, performing root cause analysis where required

• Work closely with application teams to optimise performance, reliability and deployment processes

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong Go (Golang) development experience – this is a mandatory requirement

• Experience writing Infrastructure as Code for public cloud environments (preferably Terraform)

• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP

• Hands on experience with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines as code (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure Pipelines etc.)

• Experience working closely with development teams and common build tools (Gradle, dotnet, npm etc.)

Nice to Have

• Experience with GitOps practices

• Experience building or contributing to Internal Developer Platforms

• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry or modern observability tooling

• Experience managing private cloud environments

• Understanding of Scrum / Agile delivery models

Soft Skills

• Able to work independently and take ownership of technical decisions

• Strong communication skills when working with engineering teams and stakeholders

• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving ability within complex environments

• Comfortable creating, reading and maintaining technical documentation

Candidate Requirements

• Must be based in the Netherlands
