Job Description
Join us as a Data Engineer in the Customer Engagement Individuals Tribe, where we put customers at the centre of everything we do. The tribe owns key customer-facing systems across Danske Bank’s channels and capabilities, working with a wide range of profiles such as data analysts, engineers, architects, UI/UX designers, and business specialists from diverse nationalities. Together, we ensure the best possible solutions for our customers and drive innovative change across the Personal Customers domain, enabling the next generation of banking services.
Your workday as a Data Engineer will involve close collaboration with your team of data and business experts to ensure high-quality, scalable data solutions across the bank. You’ll build and optimise back-end pipelines using methodologies like event-driven transfers for near real-time analytics and functionality, as well as classical API transfers to enable seamless data flow. By working within Danske Bank’s technical frameworks, you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer products and supporting the bank’s Forward ’28 strategy to become more digital and customer-focused. This position can be located in either Lithuania or Denmark.
If the position is based in Lithuania, the monthly salary range will be from EUR 3440 to EUR 5160 gross, depending on your competencies relevant to the role.
Your job function (position) in the job contract will be IT Software Engineer (Data Engineer). From 1 April 2026 it will be renamed to Data Engineering under our new job architecture, with no impact on the role or responsibilities.

As a Data Engineer you will:
- Develop data pipelines including collection, ingestion, cleaning, transformation & loading
- Ensure data is efficiently moved, stored, organised, accessible & scalable within the group wide technical landscape
- Apply and contribute to data engineering best practice for scalable and sustainable development
- Ensure sufficient and coherent documentation and reporting.
- Work closely together with system & data owners to enable data
- Work with other business areas across Personal Customers to ensure bank wide data availability.
- Align data to the bank’s regulatory, governance, security & management frameworks to ensure E2E compliant data.
- Be expected to continuously learn and grow in the role and adopt new technologies as the technical landscape changes.
Furthermore, you have:
- Some experience in data engineering and end-to-end data pipelining, including ETL processes
- Awareness of security, compliance, risk, and performance considerations in financial services contexts
- Knowledge in Python, with experience in distributed processing using Spark a plus
- Experience with database management across relational or NoSQL databases
- Experience with at least one integration tool, such as Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, AWS Glue or Azure Data Factory
- Experience with at least one cloud vendor and data platform, with exposure to big data technologies a plus
- A foundational knowledge of Git for version control and an introductory understanding of DevOps principles to facilitate effective teamwork
- Experience with security, compliance, risk, load & general financial services data are a plus
- Are fluent in written and spoken English
