The Role

As a Senior Web Application Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and operation of a high-profile online store for a major sports league. This is a B2C service where you will have the opportunity to work on everything from front-end to back-end development, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead technical aspects of the team, including system design and code reviews
• Stay updated with new technologies and integrate them into the development process
• Collaborate closely with product and project managers to refine backlogs and develop long-term plans
• Understand business requirements and deliver high-quality, efficient functionality
• Engage in system design, development, testing, and operations (including releases, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and bug fixes)
• Drive system improvements through refactoring, technology adoption, and performance optimization

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of web application development experience in Java
• Proficiency in web application frameworks (e.g., Spring, Struts) and database management (Oracle or MySQL)
• Strong system architecture design and review skills
• A proactive mindset to adopt and propose new technologies and processes
• Passion for improving and maximizing team performance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with PHP web application frameworks (e.g., CodeIgniter)
• Project and team leadership experience
• Familiarity with agile development processes (e.g., Scrum)
• Knowledge of test automation and continuous integration (CI)
• Basic performance testing knowledge
• Experience with consumer-facing web applications
• Business-level proficiency in Japanese
