Ergo IT Recruitment Services is seeking an IT Security Specialist for a leading client of ours in Galway.

This permanent role combines hands‑on engineering with responsibility for security risk assessment, mitigation, and compliance across network, cloud, server, and information environments. This is a hybrid role, working 1-2 days onsite each week.

What will you do?

• Maintain and implement security policies, standards, and procedures (ISO27001, NIS2)
• Perform system audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability testing
• Monitor, analyse, and respond to security alerts and incidents
• Support teams across the business in adopting strong security practices
• Manage network and endpoint security tools including firewalls, IDS/IPS, EPP, and encryption
• Oversee backups, disaster recovery processes, and incident response
• Conduct log analysis and digital forensics when required

What do you need?

• 3+ years of experience in an IT Security role
• Strong experience in network and endpoint security, identity management, and compliance frameworks
• Familiarity with SIEM tools and incident response workflows
• Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, DLP, vulnerability scanners, IAM, Active Directory, LDAP, RBAC, and MFA
• Cloud security experience, ideally with Azure and AWS
• Background in IT auditing, vulnerability assessments, or gap analysis is an advantage

Desirable Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in IT
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• CompTIA Security+
• GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
