IT Engineer (m/f/d) | Public Sector | Remote | Long-Term Contract

Our client is a major IT service provider supporting critical government and defence organisations in Germany. They are seeking a freelance IT Engineer to support the evolution of complex, highly secure IT environments and ensure stable operations across large-scale infrastructure landscapes.

Responsibilities:

• Design and further develop IT architectures and technical solution concepts across complex system landscapes.
• Support operations through monitoring, incident/problem/change management, and coordination with technical stakeholders.
• Plan and execute system migrations, releases, deployments, and application integrations.
• Conduct functional, technical, performance, and security testing while ensuring documentation and operational standards.
• Optimise system performance, capacity planning, and automate operational processes.

Requirements:

• 4+ years’ experience working with complex client/server or web-based architectures in highly virtualised, high-availability data centre environments.
• Proven experience supporting IT systems within public-sector or defence environments.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL, application operations, and deployment processes.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Cisco collaboration tools, and enterprise documentation standards.
• Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, PRINCE2 Foundation, ISTQB (or comparable).
• Fluent German required.
