Network Security Engineer

10+ Years

Location: Sodertalje, Sweden (onsite)

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support enterprise-grade Fortinet firewall architectures

Perform end-to-end FortiGate configuration, including policies, routing, security profiles, and high availability

Lead L3-level troubleshooting for complex network and security incidents

Architect, deploy, and maintain secure VPN solutions (site-to-site and remote access)

Optimize firewall performance, security posture, and traffic flow

Participate in network security design reviews and provide technical recommendations

Support change management, upgrades, and migrations for Fortinet environments

Collaborate with network, cloud, and security teams to deliver resilient solutions

Provide technical guidance to L1/L2 teams and act as an escalation point

Required Technical Skills (Descending Priority)

1. Fortinet Firewall & VPN (Core Requirement)

Strong hands-on experience with FortiGate Firewalls

Deep understanding of:

Firewall policies, NAT, zones, and security profiles

IPS, Antivirus, Web Filtering, Application Control

SSL inspection and certificate management

VPN expertise:

IPsec Site-to-Site VPNs

SSL VPN (Tunnel & Web mode)

Advanced VPN troubleshooting and optimization

High Availability (HA) configuration and failover testing

Firmware upgrades, backups, and rollback planning

2. Fortinet SD-WAN (Good to Have)

Hands-on experience with Fortinet SD-WAN

SD-WAN rule design, performance SLA configuration, and link steering

Integration of SD-WAN with security policies

WAN optimization and multi-link resilience

3. Advanced Networking & L3 Skills

Strong knowledge of routing and switching concepts:

BGP, OSPF, static routing

VLANs, inter-VLAN routing

Network troubleshooting using packet captures and logs

Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and MTU-related issues

4. Security & Integration Skills

Experience integrating Fortinet with:

SIEM/SOC platforms

Identity services (LDAP, RADIUS, Active Directory)

Knowledge of security best practices and compliance-driven designs

Exposure to zero-trust and network segmentation concepts

5. Tools & Automation (Nice to Have)

Familiarity with FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer

Basic scripting or automation exposure (CLI, REST APIs)

Experience in cloud environments (Azure / AWS) with FortiGate is a plus

Experience & Qualifications

5+ years of experience in network security or firewall administration

Proven L3 support or engineering experience in enterprise environments

Fortinet certifications (preferred):

NSE 4 / NSE 5 / NSE 7

Strong documentation and communication skills
