Senior Back End Engineer (PHP and/or Python) | Ed‑Tech Product | AI‑Enabled Platform
Our client is an ed‑tech product company building AI‑powered learning experiences. They are looking for a Senior Back End Engineer to help design and scale the backend systems that support their platform and AI‑driven features.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP and/or Python
- Support AI‑enabled functionality such as personalisation, recommendations, and analytics
- Take ownership of services from design through to production
- Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and AI teams
- Contribute to technical standards and mentor junior engineers
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong experience with PHP (Laravel/Symfony) and/or Python (Django/FastAPI/Flask)
- Experience designing APIs and working with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL)
- Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Interest in applied AI within a product environment
