Senior Back End Engineer (Node)

Senior Back End Engineer (Node.js) | Ed‑Tech Product| Contract Role

Our client is a product‑led ed‑tech company building AI‑powered learning experiences at scale. They’re looking for 2 Senior Back End Engineer's on a contract basis to assist with an upcoming requirement for one of their products.

This is a hands‑on role focused on building solid application logic, APIs, and data models in a production SaaS environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js (TypeScript)
• Develop and support AI‑enabled features such as personalisation, recommendations, and analytics pipelines
• Own backend components end‑to‑end, from design through to production and iteration
• Work closely with product, frontend, and AI/ML teams to deliver high‑quality features
• Contribute to technical standards, improve code quality, and support junior engineers through reviews and mentorship

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in a production SaaS environment
• Strong experience with Node.js (TypeScript preferred), using frameworks such as Express, NestJS, or similar
• Solid understanding of API design and relational databases (Postgres, MySQL)
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Interest in building AI‑enabled product features (experience integrating AI services is a bonus, not a requirement)
