About The Role
The Staff iOS Engineer role at Capital One Canada offers a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a talented team of software engineers in developing cutting-edge mobile applications. This position combines hands-on development with strategic leadership, where you will be responsible for delivering major components and platform needs in collaboration with senior engineers and architects. You will work within a dynamic mobile team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, contributing your expertise to design, develop, test, and support innovative solutions.
As part of the team, you will help shape products that enhance customer experiences, such as Credit Keeper, which allows users to monitor their credit scores, and Quick Check, providing pre-approval certainty for credit cards. Capital One's emphasis on cloud technology, open source frameworks, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers ensures that your work will be at the forefront of technological advancement, enabling rapid deployment of new features and services. Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in any field, along with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in native iOS application development using Swift and SwiftUI. Demonstrated expertise in application design, technical architecture, and full-cycle development is essential. Leadership experience is required, including mentoring junior and intermediate developers and providing guidance to both technical and business stakeholders. A strong understanding of software engineering best practices and the ability to work collaboratively in an agile environment are also necessary.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead the delivery of major components and platform features in collaboration with senior engineers and architects to ensure scalable and robust solutions.
- Participate actively in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle within a dynamic mobile team, from planning through deployment and maintenance.
- Enhance software engineering practices by designing, developing, testing, and implementing technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.
- Provide technical expertise on how evolving technology trends impact the domain, guiding the team towards innovative and efficient solutions.
- Mentor and support junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
