About The Role

Trideca is looking for a Senior Android Developers to join our Mobile team, who are partnering with an Australian giant in the healthcare industry.

This role will focus on modernizing and modularizing our mobile codebase. You'll lead critical refactoring efforts, improve engineering practices, implement shift-left testing strategies, and help evolve the mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Refactor and modernise the Android codebase to support scalable, modular architecture and align with evolving engineering standards
• Develop and maintain high-quality, native Android features using Kotlin, following clean architecture and modern design patterns (MVVM, Jetpack).
• Implement robust unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and enable shift-left testing practices.
• Optimise performance, maintainability, and codebase cleanliness ensuring legacy code is improved and technical debt is addressed proactively.
• Collaborate with the platform and enabling teams to define and roll out new engineering practices across Android projects.
• Drive adoption of modern Android development practices including modularisation, coroutines, dependency injection, and Jetpack libraries.
• Monitor and debug app performance using tools like NewRelic and Crashlytics, and continuously improve code quality via SonarQube.
• Work closely with designers and product owners to bring intuitive, pixel-perfect UI to life using Figma assets.
• Contribute to our Android roadmap, helping shape Medibanks future as a digital-first destination for members.
• Guide junior developers and peers through code reviews and technical discussions, fostering a culture of learning and engineering excellence.
  
  

Essential Requirements

• Strong experience in native Android development with Kotlin AND Jetpack Compose
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing modularised Android applications within large-scale codebases.
• Ability to define clear module boundaries across feature, core, and shared modules to support scalable architecture.
• Experience managing inter-module dependencies to maintain clean architecture and reduce technical debt.
• Proven capability to use modularisation to improve build performance and parallel development across teams.
• Strong understanding of how modular architecture improves code ownership, maintainability, and testability.
• Experience configuring Gradle multi-module projects and structuring Android projects for modular development.
• Familiarity with modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture) within a modular environment.
• Experience integrating dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger across multiple module
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and MVVM architecture.
• Confidence working with complex UI, networking, and threading.
• Familiarity with Android Jetpack (ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation), Coroutines, Dagger, RxJava.
• A passion for clean code, testing, refactoring, and leaving things better than you found them.
• A collaborative mindset you love working with cross-functional teams and sharing knowledge
