Position Title: IT Intern
Intern Duration: 4 months
Department: IT / Digital Workplace / End-User Services
Location: Helsinki, Finland
Reports To: IT Manager / End-User Support Lead
Position Overview
The IT Intern is responsible for providing support within the end-user computing environment, contributing to hardware and software troubleshooting, device setup and imaging, application support, and basic security compliance functions. This position is suited for individuals possessing foundational technical expertise and a strong interest in developing skills related to enterprise-level IT operations, including laptop reimaging, endpoint management, and mobile device support.
Key Responsibilities
1. End-User Device Support
- Assist with troubleshooting laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals.
- Execute operating system installation, upgrades, and reimaging of laptops using company-standard images (e.g., Windows image creation and deployment).
- Support the installation and configuration of authorized software and applications.
- Aid in device provisioning, relocation, and setup for new hires and existing staff.
2. Operating System & Application Support
- Offer basic assistance for Windows OS-related issues, updates, and patching activities.
- Participate in software distribution and application installations under supervision.
- Document troubleshooting processes and maintain accurate support records.
3. Security & Compliance
- Support activities related to device compliance, including antivirus management, encryption, and operating system version adherence.
- Help ensure that laptops and mobile devices conform to company security protocols (such as screen lock, encryption, and approved OS versions).
- Collaborate with the IT team to validate device compliance prior to granting access to organizational resources.
4. Mobile Device Support
- Provide introductory support for mobile device setup, enrollment, email configuration, and security tasks.
- Assist users in resolving issues pertaining to device compliance and enrollment.
5. Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedure documentation, troubleshooting guides, and Frequently Asked Questions.
- Contribute to enhancements of internal processes concerning device management and support.
Required Qualifications
- Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals).
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and standard enterprise applications (MS Office, web browsers, VPN, etc.).
- Awareness of networking principles (Wi-Fi, LAN, connectivity troubleshooting).
- Interest in cybersecurity and principles of device compliance.
- Willingness to learn about endpoint imaging, Intune/MDM, and device provisioning.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Windows imaging tools (Autopilot, MDT, Intune).
- Exposure to mobile device management practices (Android/iOS).
- Understanding of enterprise security concepts (encryption, antivirus, access policies).
- Experience with technical support or help desk responsibilities, including academic work.
Learning Opportunities
