About Amber Labs
Amber Labs is a cutting-edge technology consultancy delivering innovative digital solutions across UK Central Government. We specialise in cloud transformation, DevOps enablement, and secure-by-design engineering, supporting high-profile programmes that make a real impact.
We are currently seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fully remote UK-based role, working on mission-critical Central Government projects.
Essential Requirements
- Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
- Proven experience delivering on UK Central Government programmes
- Strong hands-on AWS DevOps engineering experience
- Expertise in:
- AWS cloud services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Containerisation (Docker)
- Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure cloud architecture
- Experience working in Agile, multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to take ownership of technical solutions and contribute to engineering best practice
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure compliance with Government security standards and best practices
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and security teams
- Contribute to technical decision-making and continuous improvement
Desirable Skills
- Experience working to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards
- Knowledge of logging/monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Experience with cost optimisation in AWS environments
- AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
